Where We Started, and Where We're Going

The idea for opening Enid Axe started as a joke.  In 2020, COVID-19 had changed the world as we knew it.  The pandemic ended many careers and we lost family, friends, and pieces of ourselves.  We all were searching for something to give is an escape.  We wanted to see each other smile.  We wanted to tell jokes and sing to our favorite songs on the jukebox.  We DID NOT want the government telling us what we could do and who we could do it with any longer!   Enter: Enid Axe.

Enid Axe started as a place to have a beer and throw axes, but after touring close to 20 different axe throwing venues, we decided that bucket list places weren't our vibe.  We wanted a hang out.  We wanted to focus on fun and community.  We wanted a great selection of beer and drinks, fun and comfortable lanes, and more to do than just chunking axes.  We wanted pool, darts and air hockey.  We wanted great snacks and a sport bar feel with TV's all around the venue.  Enid was going to get AXE throwing, on steroids.  Kinda like a a new age saloon.

Our lanes were built using massive cedar beams and inverted horse gates.  Horse mats make up the protective flooring and we have cattle panels dividing the axe throwing from the other areas to give a northwestern Oklahoma country feel.  For further safety we have every single throwing target divided by a 10 foot barrier.  You don't have to worry about the person next you throwing into your lane.  There are also rubber kickback plates underneath the targets to increase safety.  A safety nets is installed above the lanes to further protect each individual thrower.  Our throwing boards are 5 inch thick end cut rounds of cottonwood and sycamore trees, locally sourced here in Enid and cut and delivered by Mark McCauley. 

Speaking of wood, if you're tired of throwing at boring slab boards that are unforgiving, loud, and only have one league target on them, then we are your place.  We are proud to use Axcitement projection targets on our end cut rounds.  The targets boards paired with the projection system that Axcitement brings to our venue gives us 2 levels of axe throwing and 12 different games to play including Zombie Hunter, Tic Tac Toe, Battleship, Duck Hunt, and more!

As we've grown and filled this 7500 square foot building, we' brought in 3 pool tables, 3 digital dart boards, one air hockey table, giant Connect 4, an arm wrestling table and several arcade games and prize cranes!

In August 2022 Sombria Chocolate and Coffee came on board.  Mandy Creveling brings one of only three bean-to-bar chocolate companies in all of Oklahoma.  She takes chocolate to a level like we rarely get to see in Northwest Oklahoma.  Now fans of her real chocolate get to enjoy her take on Espresso, infused energy drinks, Italian cream sodas, bursting boba sodas and other liquid expressions!  We can even make you an Irish Coffee or add a little jolt of liquor to your coffee desires.

In October of 2022, we finally opened Liquor in the Axe, our full service bar featuring the largest liquor selection of any bar in NW Oklahoma. We take great pride in offering a unique, upscale cocktail bar that's smoke free and full of amazing flavors and friendly faces. We currently have over 600 different flavors of liquor, and we're adding more all the time.

Jumping to the present, Enid Axe has become so much more than we could have ever imagined. We have a slew of amazing vendors selling everything from freeze dried candy and pickled quail eggs, to stuffed animals and 3D printed goods, to refurbished vacuums and paintings, and more! We even have our very own Triviaxe trivia night that we run every Tuesday, and karaoke nights on Saturday.
